About Cruthú
Cruthú was formed to facilitate the development of art in the greater West Wicklow area. It aims to do this via two channels support for individual artists, and providing gateways for those seeking to express themselves creatively.
Cruthú subscribes to the theory that creativity belongs to us all.
We are a group dedicated to the act of creation. Cruthú does not make any distinction in the many forms of art. Furthermore, Cruthú recognizes that craft and art are one. Cruthú seeks to promote art and artists in the West Wicklow area.
Cruthú is open to everyone no matter the form or medium, nor whether you are a professional artist or someone beginning to express themselves creatively. Our purpose is to promote art and artists, to facilitate those wishing to learn the practice of art and to integrate art into the lives of local communities.
The mission of Cruthú
The mission of Cruthú is to encourage a community of artistic people, providing a base for people who practice or have an interest in the arts to link with other like minded souls with the core ethos of the Cruthú being 'available to nurture, encourage, respect, advance, support, assist, enable, guide, share, promote and to facilitate',
The current programme is as follows:
- To hold no less than two exhibitions a year.
- To organize classes and workshops in the arts.
- To plan artistic field trips.
- To host talks and discussions on the arts.
- To hold an annual art competition for schools in the West Wicklow area.
- To provide a regular news letter.
- To liaise with such bodies, like Arts Council, the Crafts Council, Wicklow Arts Office, Wicklow Rural Partnership, etc, that may be of benefit to artists in the West Wicklow Area.

| Fundraising weekend |
| We have arranged with Dunnes Stores in Blessington for a bag packing weekend on September 25th / 26th. read more |
| Exhibition for non premises members |
The committee have agreed with the members to allocate the weekend of September 4th and 5th to those who have not had the opportunity to avail of the premises yet for exhibiting.

| We are hoping to organise more Social outing |
| We hope to get more social outing into our calendar. We are open to any suggestions, we are trying to get a trip to the Civic Theatre, a Special tour of Russborough House for members,Classes for painting and crafts. If you have any suggestions please advise any member. read more |
